Is it haram for males to get their ears pierced?

I know it’s Haram to imitate females but the reason i want to get my ears pierced is not beacuse I want to imitate females. So really it can’t be haram can it?

Praise be to Allaah.

Earrings and bracelets are forms of adornment for women, and Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed men who make themselves look like women and women who make themselves look like men.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 5435).

Abu Hurayrah said: “The Messenger of Allaah cursed men who wear women’s clothes and women who wear men’s clothes.” (Reported by Abu Dawood in al-Sunan, Kitaab al-Libaas, Baab fi libaas al-nisaa’). On this basis, it is not permitted for men to wear earrings or nose-rings.

The claim that this is permissible because the people of Quraysh used to do that needs to be proven, in the first place, and where is the proof?

Secondly, even if they used to do this in the Jaahiliyaah (Time of Ignorance before Islam), Islam came and forbade men to wear the adornment of women or to make themselves look like them, as is clear from the ahadeeth quoted above. What matters is the ruling of Islam, not what Quraysh or other tribes may have done.

Thirdly, the kinds of female adornment known among Quraysh and others includes earrings, bracelets, anklets and bangles worn on the upper arm. The point is that these are known as forms of women’s adornment since ancient times.

Fourthly, Islam has given men sufficient scope to adorn themselves by allowing them to wear silver rings, as Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wore a ring made of silver, and the people did likewise. (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 5417). Islam also allows men to wear gold and silver when necessary to replace a lost tooth or nose, and so on.

Finally, we would say that any Muslim man who wears jewellery is making himself look like the kuffaar, because this is known to be their style of adornment; the latest fashion among them is to wear earrings and the like in their ears, noses, lips, cheeks and other parts of the body (so-called “body-piercing”). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” (Reported by Abu Dawood, al-Sunan, Kitaab al-libaas, Bab libaas al-shuhrah).

Whoever does this should repent to Allaah and not engage in the futile defence of falsehood. He should be distinct in both his personality and his dress from the kuffaar, as Islam has commanded us to be. Allaah is the One Who guides to the Straight Path.

Islam Q&A

If marijuana is haram, then why did the Arabs globalize it?

Salam Wa Lakim brothers and sisters,

I am just curious as to why marijuana is Haram. Personally, I have used it and it has caused me no harm. I feel smart and good. And we, the Arabs globalized it across africa and the world. Muslims did this, shortly after the death of Muhammad during the 8th century. It must not be haram if the most religous muslims spread it right?

Kush so strong you can smell me coming

Kush is my cologne

Is it haram for Muslim men to look at women?

As in, Is it haram for a 16 year old Muslim man to look at other females peers? I understand the hole not looking at the face or body, but some scholars have told me that if they are not muslim then you can look at them. You can not look at them if they are muslim women? Which one is right?

for a TRUE MUSLIM it is NOT Haram. i think youre confusing having a married Muslim man committing adultery or a single Muslim man in general committing adultery. there is no shame in being a man my friend. for if there was, how would one ever get married?

Ramadan: Is it haram to steal internet from your neighbors ?

Salaam

Lol ,I am stealing internet from my neighbor today because my internet is closed .Although I dont think they mind ,is it Haram that I never told them ?

If it is illegal to do that then technically yes.

If it’s illegal, then ask them because we LOVE YOUR QUESTIONS :P lol

Is it haram to consummate your marriage to a 9 year old if you are in your 50’s?

Is it Haram to sleep with a 9 year old little girl if you marry her when she is 6? If you are in your 50’s? What does Allah say of pedophiles?

i know what are you referring to here is your answer:
Her Marriage with the prophet was a Wahy (Divine Revelation). She, herself relates from the Prophet. "He said, ‘I saw you in dreams three times. The angel brought you to me and you were clad in white silk. He (the angel) said that it was your consort and he (angel) showed me by opening your face. You are just like that…" Sahih Muslim, Vol.2, p. 285.

Islam has no problem with early marriage, in general it
is left to the parents to decide if their children should marry or not
with her or his consent. But if they are married at young age the
marriage should be consummated AFTER the age of puberty and
AFTER the girl reaches her Menses. This is because the Prophet
Muhammed(pbuh) consummated his marriage after Aisha(r.a)
reached PUBERTY. Islam does not support Pedophilia or child
molestation under any circumstances. This is because the Quran
associates marriage to physical & mental maturity and Adulthood.
I will give two Quran verses to prove this:

Quran 4:6
Make trial of orphans until they REACH the age of marriage; if
then you find SOUND judgment in them, release their property to
them; but consume it not wastefully, nor in haste against their
growing up. If the guardian is well off, Let him claim no
remuneration, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is
just and reasonable. When ye release their property to them, take
witnesses in their presence: But all sufficient is God in taking
account.

Quran 4:21
..and how could ye take it when ye have gone in unto each other,
and they have Taken from you a solemn covenant
Both of these Verses together indicate that marriage is a
COVENANT! (agreement) between men and women at the age of
maturity and where they can make good judgments. Therefore they
have to be developed.

What if the stitching on your child’s sock was silk and he was a boy? Isn’t silk haram?

How can a person stop from doing haram things?

it can be anything, basically whatever Haram.

even if a person does stop and ask for forgiveness then ends up doing it again, how can they stop for once and for all?

Personally, I don’t base my morality on the rantings of bronze age zealots.

As an atheist, I find that everybody is human and we do human things. Sometimes we make mistakes. The only way to stop making mistakes is to stop being human.

Also, I’m not into forgiveness. Instead, I look at the good and bad in all people. There are some people I dislike more than I like. I tend to stay away from them. If later, they change or I see them in a better light, I may change my opinion about them. That happens whether or not I happen to forgive any particular action they take.

It’s more important to respect people for who they are than to check off a list of things you have to fogive of them.

Asian Dining Etiquette and Tips for Gifts

Dining is one of the most essential ways of communicating and entertaining in Asia. Meals, etiquette and placements have many important meanings and you should make a special effort to know and understand them. If you are uneasy in a certain situation do feel free to ask your host. They do not regard your questions as embarrassing but as showing respect and interest in their culture.

Invitation by an Asian host

  • Invitations should be acknowledged regardless of declining or accepting.
  • Never come too early, be on time or a little late. Exception: Chinese weddings are always delayed!
  • If you are not sure what to wear for a formal invitation and/or for a special occasion and it is not indicated on the invitation, ask your host.
  • Wear modest clothes when invited into a Muslim home.
  • A verbal thank you is sufficient but a telephone call a day later is greatly appreciated. Flowers are a Western custom and are either sent before the event or the next day.

Inviting an Asian guest

  • Keep your dog locked away as Muslims are not allowed contact with dogs. Chinese are often afraid of dogs.
  • Respect the fasting month Ramadan when inviting others to your home.
  • Muslims are not permitted to drink alcohol. If you receive an unexpected guest you need to serve drinks.
  • Inquire about food restrictions when inviting for lunch or dinner. Muslims must eat halal which means food and drink sanctioned by Allah for consumption. Examples of Haram (prohibited) food are pork, alcohol, lard shortening, animal shortening, gelatin, pepsin, monoglyceride, animal hormones didlyceride eg. emulsifiers if of animal origin.
  • Your guests may be vegetarian, or not allowed to eat pork (Muslims) or beef (Hindus). The safest choice is fish, chicken and vegetables.

Dining Chinese Style

  • Chinese dinners are a lively affair with lots of laughter and dish sharing. Diners eat fast and leave the table soon to proceed to another location.
  • Your hosts will be glad to explain food and traditions in connection with the meal served and warn you about spicy dishes. It is considered polite to praise the food.
  • You are not expected to be a master of eating with chopsticks and may ask for a fork and a spoon instead.
  • Chinese hosts will place food onto your plate and if you want to reciprocate you need to turn your chopsticks and use the other end.
  • Dropping chopsticks is a sign of bad luck and you should not stick the chopsticks up in a bowl of rice and never cross one over the other.
  • Food is transferred from one dish to the other by spoons.
  • Do not take the last food of a dish unless invited to do so.
  • Bones are removed from your mouth with the chopsticks if possible.

Dining Indian and Muslim Style

  • When invited by Muslims and Hindus wait until you are invited to start eating and drinking.
  • Only use the right hand. Use the serving spoon when serving yourself from the center.
  • It is customary to start eating some rice first when the meal starts.
  • You are not allowed to serve food to others with your own utensils.
  • When eating with your fingers (e.g. banana leaf style) take a small amount with the tip of your fingers only.
  • You are allowed to pass on the dishes with your left hand supported by your right when your right hand is soiled.
  • Drinking glasses can be lifted with your left hand as well.
  • You will be offered a finger bowl at the end of each meal to clean your fingers, which should not be licked.
