Take the Journey of a lifetime

What is a hajj?

Hajj means travelling for the purpose of visiting the Ka’bah, the sacred House of Allaah, to perform the rites (manaasik), i.e., the actions and words reported in accounts of the Prophet’s Hajj, such as Tawaaf or walking around the Ka’bah seven times, al-Saa’ee or running between the hills of Safaa’ and Marwa seven times, standing at ‘Arafaah, stoning the Jamaraat (stone pillars representing the Shaytaan) at Mina, etc. Hajj brings immense benefits to people, as they declare the Unity (Tawheed) of Allaah, there is forgiveness for the pilgrims, Muslims get to know one another and learn the rules of their religion, and so on. We greatly appreciate your interest in asking about Hajj even though you are so young and live so far away in Canada. We ask Allaah to enable you to go for Hajj and do all its rites. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad

My dear brother jawed ahmad .In general what have you said about hajj are right.Hajj is insructed by Allah to all muslims who are capable to perform that.It means that a muslim has enough money, healthy and safety in his/her travelling. This obligation is once during your whole life although you can do it more than once but the another is sunnah(non mandatory)..The calling for hajj was firstly given to Ibrahim prophet. The rituals are like this (1)say the niyyat and wear ihram clothes (2)obey some prohibitions during wearing ihram clothes.and make sunnah prayer at least 2 raka’ats (3)starting the hajj pilgrim at miqat place (certain place for starting the hajj such as from jeddah) (3)enter the mesjiddil haram say allah hu akbar and look at kabaa the sacred house of Allah and pray sunnah of 2 raka’ats (4)starting thawaf opposite the clock’s needle turn left starting from the multazan in front of the door of kabaa walk 7 times by reciting certain dua in arabic(5)after finished thawaf make sunnah prayer near maqam (foot print)of Ibrahim and at hijr Ismael and make dua (6)take and drink a glass of zam2 water and make a dua too (7)make sai a quich walking from Safaa to Marwaa vise versa 7 times by saying dua too and after finished it we should cut our hair which is called tahalul. It is the symbol of effort of Siti Hajat the wife of Ibrahim in searching water. for Ismael her son (8)travelling to arafah field for wukuf just one day before the iedl adha day this year on November 26.We pray and dzikir there and also hear the sermon. (9)before midnight we should go to Mina and take a rest(mabit) at Muzdalifa for searching at least 21 small stones and at Mina we should throw satans 7 times at 3 different places by saying allah hu akbar (10)at Mina we must slaughter a goat as qurban its meat will be distributed for poor people (11) then we go back to Mecca for thawaf and sai and tahalul for finishing all of hajj proceedings..
Every year hajj pilgrim is arranged at certain month the last month of islamic calendar. All capable muslims around the world will attend it of more than 3 million people of variouis races and skin colors be united there with one similar niyyat to fulfil the last 5th of the 5 principles of Islam or rukun Islam. They do this in canded condition for the worshipping just to Allah only.By doing this they hope they will have a mabrur hajj who have more taqwa to Allah.During the hajj pilgrim they do mandatory and voluntary prayer and dzikir and also qur’an reciting and dua at mesjiddil haram every day .which rewards is 100.000 times more than the prayer in ordinary mosque. Before or after hajj pilgrim usually we make ziarah to Medina and make prayer at Nabawi mosque which rewards is 10.000 more than the prayer in ordinary mosque
We praise and worship to Allah and ask for blessing and also we praise Muhammad pbuh. as the symbol that we love him very much

Hajj means ‘ setting out or going out for reaching a particular place.’ For Muslims it is going out to reach "Mecca’ where Abraham’s wife Hagar left her son Ismael for fetching water. Performed in the month of Hijja.

You have listed the religious observances & practices during the Hajj and the benefits to a faithful Muslim observing them.

Visiting the Roza of Allah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) in Madinah is the main soul of the whole concept of Hajj. Hajj is an expression of of your love for Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’alaa) and His Messenger (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) for whom you leave the comfort of your home and surroundings and company of loved ones to mingle with the Ummah of Allah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) shedding all barriers of caste, creed, nationality, race etc. Without this Love, the whole act of the Philgrimage would turn into just a mechanical exercise or some customary ritual. Islam is not about rituals. It is all about ove for Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’alaa) and His Messenger (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Sallam).
