Islam has no problem with early marriage, in general it
is left to the parents to decide if their children should marry or not
with her or his consent. But if they are married at young age the
marriage should be consummated AFTER the age of puberty and
AFTER the girl reaches her Menses. This is because the Prophet
Muhammed(pbuh) consummated his marriage after Aisha(r.a)
reached PUBERTY. Islam does not support Pedophilia or child
molestation under any circumstances. This is because the Quran
associates marriage to physical & mental maturity and Adulthood.
I will give two Quran verses to prove this:

Quran 4:6
Make trial of orphans until they REACH the age of marriage; if
then you find SOUND judgment in them, release their property to
them; but consume it not wastefully, nor in haste against their
growing up. If the guardian is well off, Let him claim no
remuneration, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is
just and reasonable. When ye release their property to them, take
witnesses in their presence: But all sufficient is God in taking
account.

Quran 4:21
..and how could ye take it when ye have gone in unto each other,
and they have Taken from you a solemn covenant
Both of these Verses together indicate that marriage is a
COVENANT! (agreement) between men and women at the age of
maturity and where they can make good judgments. Therefore they
have to be developed.

Mature men are allowed to marry prepubescent girls.

The Quran in Sura 65:1, 4 says:

65:1 O Prophet, when you (and the believers) divorce women, divorce them for their prescribed waiting-period and count the waiting-period accurately . . . 4 And if you are in doubt about those of your women who have despaired of menstruation, (you should know that) their waiting period is three months, and the same applies to those who have not menstruated as yet. As for pregnant women, their period ends when they have delivered their burden.

Most of the muslims out here have claimed that Aisha (the 6 year old) was mature when mohammad "married" her.

Now we’ll look at the evidence and see that Aisha was prepubescent when Muhammad had sex with her.

The hadith state that Aisha was taken to Muhammad’s house, as his bride, when she was 9 and she took her dolls with her as play toys.

‘A’isha reported that Allah’s Apostle married her when she was seven years old, and he was taken to his house AS A BRIDE WHEN SHE WAS NINE, AND HER DOLLS WERE WITH HER; and when he (the Holy Prophet) died she was eighteen years old. (Sahih Muslim, Book 008, Number 3311)

‘A’isha reported that she used to PLAY WITH DOLLS in the presence of Allah’s Messenger and when her playmates came to her they left (the house) because they felt shy of Allah’s Messenger whereas Allah’s Messenger sent them to her. (Sahih Muslim, Book 031, Number 5981)

When the Apostle of Allah arrived after the expedition to Tabuk or Khaybar (the narrator is doubtful), the draught raised an end of a curtain which was hung in front of her store-room, revealing some dolls which belonged to her.

He asked: What is this? She replied: My dolls. Among them he saw a horse with wings made of rags, and asked: What is this I see among them? She replied: A horse. He asked: What is this that it has on it? She replied: Two wings. He asked: A horse with two wings? She replied: Have you not heard that Solomon had horses with wings? She said: Thereupon the Apostle of Allah laughed so heartily that I could see his molar teeth. (Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 41, Number 4914)

A Muslim scholar says that it is okay for Aisha (and other children) to play with dolls because they are not considered adults:

Al-Khattaabee said: From this Hadeeth it is understood that playing with dolls (al-banaat) is not like the amusement from other images (suwar) concerning which the threat (wa’eed) of punishment is mentioned. The only reason why permission in this was given to ‘Aa’isha (may Allah be pleased with her) is because SHE HAD NOT, AT THAT TIME, REACHED THE AGE OF PUBERTY. Their answers prove that they themselves are ashmaed of what mohammad did, hence they are trying to find various excuses to shelter the pedophile.

Furthermore, the marriage was not consumated until Ayesha [raa] had her first menses and stopped playing with dolls… both of which were a sign of womanhood in Arab culture… a sign that she was mature and no longer a child… this is probably strange to modern people in the west because we still see 14 year olds as children and grown men these days are playing video games… But in 7th century Arabia it was a different matter… 8 and 9 year olds could be running their family store by that age, and this happens to this day in many parts of the world. It’s all about your personal definition of a child, which is often times just an opinion, and is very relative and depending almost entirely on societal circumstance.

Also, if the 6 year old girl is mature enough to say yes to the marriage (which does not happen in this century) then only the marriage takes place.. if she is just a kid then she is not allowed to be married!!

”What makes you think any Muslim thinks ”pedophilia” is OK at all? All throughout history it was common for girls to marry at the age of puberty ergo not children young women ergo not pedophilia, unless of course you don’t know the definition of a pedophile?
I take it you are referring to his marriage to Aisha which took place when she was 9, that does not mean the marriage was sexually motivated nor that the marriage was consummated, it was not. That did not occur until puberty.
There is nothing to make up my mind about. Pedophilia is not acceptable or part of Islam, end of….
