Is it haram to take belly dancing classes?

I want to take this class but dont know if its haram

I like to dance, it keeps me fit, and one day inshallah I can dance for my future spouse :)

It will be all women and their are no males in the area.

Im not a scholar..or anything, so im not going to say it if its Haram or not.

I can tell you though, i learnt to belly dance with my palestinian, iraqi and egyptian girls, and we didnt use musicy-music we used daf only…which is so much cuter.

Yuh lol…i have the exact same thought…for keeping fit and for my future husband rew lol. winks

I can tel you though if you wanna do the whole balancing the stick on your sides thing then you will need a to have bit of love handles or else its really hard to get it to stay!

Im not sure if its haram…ill need to see other peoples responses, but now that iv learnt it i’ll still put it into use in the future…cheeky.

It’s haram if you do it in front of men who are not your close family members. If it’s just women and your dad and brothers who can see you doing that then it’s not haram.

@sunny: a good honest muslimah doesnt have restrictions on how she would like to play with her man. Its all up to personal preferences. Have a nice day.

Belly dancing is like exercise. Exercise preserves youth, body and beauty. Allah respects people who take care of their bodies. It is not haram.

    Nope, not haraam.
All women. No men. And you just want to do it for your husband.
For the people saying it’s haraam, which hijab or any other Islamic rule is it violating (in this situation.) None.
