Can Muslim converts visit Mecca? How do you legally convert to Islam?

As you may know, non-Muslims are legally not allowed to visit Mecca. I’d personally enjoy visiting although I have no religion, it’d be a nice experience. If I was to ‘convert’ to Islam, would I be allowed to do the Pilgrimage? Since they most likely need legal documentation, how would I show, or in other words, legally convert to the Islamic religion?

to convert legally you will have to go rto a Mosque and give the SHAHADAH then you mentioned your intention for Hajj or Umrah , they will give you a recommendation or a certificate to testify that you are a Muslim and this will insert into your passport that you are a Muslim , and you will visit Mecca freely

Of course one is allowed to do pilgrimage if one is a convert. A Muslim is a Muslim whether convert or by birth. There is some converts who are better and higher in rank (meaning more accepted by God) than original Muslims. The matter of embracing Islam is a simple matter. All one has to do is to establish the intention of embracing Islam in the heart and utter the Testification of Faith (Shahada). It goes as follows. Say in a voice loud enough to hear oneself "There is no God but God and MuHammad is His Messenger". Important note here. The Shahada can be said in any language one may speak. It does not have to be in Arabic. It can be said anywhere and anytime. It can also be said in another way that carries the same meaning like, "no one deserves to be worshiped except Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet". Also, another misconception, you do not need any witnesses, ones faith is valid if the Shahada was uttered, that is, uttered with the intention of embracing Islam by yourself. A Muslim is not allowed to delay someone from embracing Islam. It is the opposite of faith if one does so, a serious matter if one had delayed someone from taking their Shahada. It does not have to be on a Friday or in front of the Imam. God is All-Knowing, All-Seeing, All-Hearing.

In your case, the saudi official might want to hear the Shahada from you. I am not sure how they work over there but I would assume that is how it would be done. You know what I would do, I would learn the basics of the Religion, so when asked by the saudi official, if they do, you will be prepared. Also is beneficial for you to learn anyways. Win win situation.

I hope this finds you well.

There would be no need to show legal documentation but if you was a convert then yes you would be allowed to go all you would need to do is where a burkah which is what muslim women wear and recite some words from the Quran and there you have embraced islam.
