There is a difference between believing because you want to believe (in which case evidence supporting/refuting your belief does not matter), and believing because evidence compels you to believe (in which case evidence takes center-stage). My adherence to Islam stems from the latter. Since the Quran tells us we will find evidence for God’s existence in nature, I take it we are not to distort observations to suit what we want to believe. Islam is a bit like “Intelligent Design” on steroids.
