No, I think that the millions of decent Muslims, just like the millions of decent Christains, Jews et al should not be abused becasue some of Satan’s kids do not live by the word given by God. Less than 10 percent of the world’s Muslims are located anywhere near Mecca.
The other 90% really would go all Jihad on us. Including all the law-abiding ones who so far have NOT traveled to Pakistan or Yemen for terrorism training.
Besides, they don’t need Mecca. Most of the world’s Jews were located outside of Jerusalem for nearly 2,000 years. Their religion did not end. It adapted and changed. A cosmic Mecca, waiting for a great victory over the evil non-believers who tried to destroy the temporal one, to stage its glorious return, descending from Heaven to end all war once and for all. Something along those lines. It’s a common enough theme in all the Abrahamic religions.

If we were to launch a nuclear strike on a city full of civilians, do you think that wouldn’t breed hatred from all walks of life following the attack? Not only would the United States be seen on the world stage as the largest contributor of mass genocide ever, it would also trump all efforts of the past. No one would remember the U.S. for having ended the 2nd World War and stopping the genocide of the Jewish population. Everything that the terrorists claim we are would be verified. They call us the Great Satan and you expect that by killing over 3 million (as of 2007) muslims and civilians that we would earn a better reputation to the world? So my answer is no.
