Hi - nice article. Well, the healthcare reform bill is under fire. We still need to do plenty of research on the implications, but there’s one thing that’s certain is that it’s going to cost this country a lot of money. What parts of the original bill will stay? The problem with comparing Sweden and the US is that Sweden is a neutral country which doesn’t get involved in wars. The US spends billions and billions on war and the military so, yes, I think it will be tricky for Americans to work out the finances for the health care plan. In Sweden it works perfectly fine.

Big Bro Handiwipes - As I mentioned, we are a neutral country and therefore don’t need to spend a lot of money on the military…nor do we want to.

Because:
1) It is not "exorbitant." Sweden spends less per capita on health care than we do.
2) The size difference isn’t a big deal–except to incompetents who couldn’t manage a storefront clinic in a one-horse town. Competent managers know size makes things easier, not harder. That’s basic business.
3) Sweden has better health care.

So they get a better managed and higher quality system–for less money.

Of course, they don’t let cons rip people off either–which is the only real objection cons have. Under a reformed system, they won’t be able to steal as much.

Actually France is considered to have the best health care system in the world and it the one most sited by supporter of health care reform. It has a population for 65 million. The opponents are the ones who talk about Sweden because of their high taxes.

Okay, you obviously don’t know how this works. Healthcare reform is for people who can’t afford it, not for every single person in the USA. People who already have healthcare will keep the same healthcare. They won’t be forced on a new plan (We’ve been telling you this for about a year now, apparently you still won’t listen)

That is what the tax on the top 1% is for. (again, looks like you have been ignoring the news)

And the plan doesn’t really even start until 2013. Hopefully by then the economy will be better.

Because when they tried to use England, they failed. England’s public healthcare system is in crisis. When they tried to use France, everyone just laughed at them. When they tried to use Canada they were slammed with the fact that Canada isn’t ranked much higher than the US in terms of healthcare, their wait times are ridiculous, and Canada is facing a crisis in terms of doctor shortages because so many Canadian doctors are running to the US. So, they need to just consistently move around the globe until they can find a universal healthcare system that doesn’t have just as many problems as our current system.

Its not a fair comparison. Sweden doesn’t get involved in the Middle East fighting wars for Israel, they are mostly an ethnically homogeneous country, without the problem of a massive influx of illegal immigrants, and a 10-12% chunk of the population that feels entitled to free everything because their race was at one point enslaved.
