Mina is germanic and afghan. It means "will, desire + helmet protection". It’s also a scottish name, persian name, and a nickname. In my opinion, I like Mina more.

My grandma is called Wilhelmina but she always goes by Mina (prounounces it ‘Mine-ah though some pronounce it Mee-nah).
I actually prefer Wilhelmina to Mina. If you call her Wilhelmina most of the time it will be shortened to Mina anyway

It is definitely not popular. Although I love it because it was my great grandma’s (so very old) name. Her nickname was Minnie though, not Mina. Mina is still cute though. I would give Wilhemina a 5 and Mina a 3. I prefer Minnie for the nickname probably just because of my grandma. The name Mina reminds me of the movie Dracula, with Winona Ryder. Her name was Mina in it.
