Note: You cannot restrict your questions only to Muslims, this is an open forum. If you want a specifically Muslim point of view, go to a Muslim forum, there are plenty.

In answer to your question: There is no such thing as an "effective" or "successful" prayer. Prayers have been scientifically tested and found to hve no effect whatsoever.

You either seem to be non believer; a hypo-crate; totally lacking in trust and faith of the lord himself in you; or driven by ignorance, lack of knowledge, consciousness and awareness of the powers of the grace of the lord.

Especially because you are failing to realise the fact that one who is visiting the haj; in-effect is doing so only because he has been directed to do so by the lord himself; and those who are going there; are doing so only because they are following the command and will of the lord himself; and thus only no body needs to worry about any thing; primarily and essentially because the Pilgrims have already been taken under the guardianship and guidance of the lord; by the lord himself.

Your prayers should in-effect be in the form of the praise of the lord ; praising him and thanking him with joy; that he has not listened to the prayers of goodness offered by your family members; but also given the opportunity to them for visiting and performing the haj at his own place.

You should ask for such grace for yourself and other family members as well; and ask him to prepare your self and them; for doing so in accordance to his own will, will power and strength of determinations.

Do not ever think that the will, will power and strengths of determinations which you use to perform your tasks; as belonging to you. Know them to be the deliverance’s of the lord to you for helping your self with; and thank him for same; and as a token of acceptance; seek his blessings to continue to do good deeds of helping and fulfilling the wants and requirements of those needy, poor, ill, sorrowful; sufferers, uneducated, illiterate, Hungary and thirsty, who genuinely need and seek such help from you

No need to pray, because only what Allah (SWT) wishes will happen (good and bad)

[And with Him are the keys of the unseen; no one knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darkness of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that is [written] in a clear record.] (Al-An`am 6:59)
