Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Festival
The Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Festival, another acclaimed event, actually takes place in the downtown area of the city for four days. This event particularly highlights an intimate setting created in the 3,000 seat tent enclosed to protect against the weather in the Rocky Mountains. And, many have noted that the major key to this June Festival in Aspen is a free concert series on the mall in downtown area, and After Dark performances in four different clubs.
Winterskol - Aspen Winter Festival
Winterskol is but another great Aspen Colorado event celebrated annually as a toast to winter. This event generally features more than 40 individual events in the downtown area and at all four ski areas: the Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass Mountain. The favorites of this Aspen Colorado event include the Fashion Show, the Wintersculpt, Buttermilk Uphill Race, and a great torchlight descent coupled with fireworks over Aspen Mountain. And, several other surprises are also out there.
Aspen Gay Ski Week
The Aspen Gay Ski Week is but a fun filled week of events intended for gay and lesbians in the town of Aspen. It is actually a full week of skiing and snowboarding on four of Colorado’s fantastic mountains. And, to mention but a few, this event involves daily aprs-ski parties, fabulous nightlife events with world class DJ’s, Downhill Costumer Competition, a Film Fest, and Comedy Night.

Will McCain listen or just lecture to the Dalai Lama? (July 25 in Aspen, CO)?

Sen. John McCain will have his own international summit — of a sort — Friday July 25 when he meets with the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.
The Dalai Lama is the keynote speaker at a three-day seminar at the Aspen Institute in Colorado that will bring together scholars, teachers and others to explore Tibet’s history and culture. McCain already had a speech scheduled in Denver, and will then fly to Aspen for a private meeting with the leader.
"It came up because we arranged the meeting, mutually agreed to a meeting," McCain said after a lunch event at a German restaurant in Columbus. "I have been a great admirer of the Dalai Lama and I look forward to the opportunity of meeting an individual who is a transcendent international role model and hero and I have admired him and respected him for the efforts he’s made on behalf of freedom of the people of Tibet but also all over the world." / / Is McCain signalling that he will back Tibet?

What makes you think he would lecture him? Do you mean like Obama telling people what is acceptable and unacceptable to him, not answering direct questions, dictating what we will and will not do with our lives?

I think they’ll simply have a good visit and move on. I think he will push for the fairest deal possible for Tibet, but that may not be Free Tibet, as many would like.
If elected McCain, like any other candidate will have to deal with the reality of China, which is becoming a world player.

I couldn’t think of two more opposite people being together. This will be a real side show. But ya know, the Dalai Lama has a sense of humor and will not doubt cut some slack for the war monger in hopes of giving him some spiritual enlightenment.
