What is the stance if: a mehram does not want to take you to Umrah/Hajj?
-Can you still go…?
Mehram: is like a guradian i.e brother, father, unlce, husband etc…
I would ask a scholar.
I doubt that someone can help you here unless he/she can give you fatwa or something.

the answer is no,
I remember studying this topic.
You can’t go to umrah or hajj if no mehram would take you.
at this point your not required to do hajj since it is not your fault. the mehram will be punished though is he can take you but refuses.

i believe you can go with a group (a hamla/7amla). I went without a mehram with me every step of the way, but the group helped me a lot.

No you cant, you have to patiently perservere.
If you are truly ready and your mehram isnt them wait… if its for any other purpose then your mehram is in the wrong and should fear Allah (swt).
have patience InshaAllah. You will be rewarded in abundance InshaAllah.

You should ask a reputable Muslim scholar this question.
I have heard of instances where women made Hajj without a mahrem present. It is not good for a mahrem to stand in the way of something that is compulsory upon every able bodied Muslim who has the financial means of making Hajj. Why would they stand in the way?? They should want to make Hajj was well.
If they are simply saying to you, "Not this year," then be patient, and go when they are ready, inshAllah. If they are saying, "not ever," then you should consult a scholar of Islam for advice. Yahoo Answers is not the best place for such serious issues.

You can only go on Umrah/Hajj with a Mehram, so no. From my knowledge if you have no mehram to take you then you are not obliged to go, your intentions however are counted and inshallah you will be rewarded for the intentions.
But I have *heard* that there are hajj groups designed for women who have no mehram to take them, you’ll have to look into it and ask a scholar/imam if that’s allowed in Islam. But I don’t think is the halal way, you will have to ask a knowledgeable person on the situation.

a single woman can go to hujj, there is no prohibition , these prohibitions have been made by bukhary and co, and so called scholars !,
sister no offence plz, but these scholars have given a short cut too,to make some one mehram !
In ahadith reported in both Malik’s Muwatta Book 30, Number 30.2.12 and Muslim Book 008, Number 3424 - 3231, it is alleged that the Prophet approved of a bearded grown-up male adult stranger to suckle a woman’s breasts in order to enable this adult stranger become forbidden (Mahram) for the woman to marry. Isn’t that strange? This hadith is a joke! Shaikh Albaani’s comments, It is even stranger still that the widely acclaimed contemporary hadith scholar, late Sheikh Al-Alabani did not see anything wrong in such ahadith. In a 12-minute audio-taped speech he said and I quote regarding this hadith: ?I personally ? don’t see any objection ? being nursed directly from the nipple ? but if someone ever felt uncomfortable with that ? some one getting breast-fed from his wife even if he only sees just the nipple ? he could opt for an alternative way and that is through a cup.? (http://www.ansarweb.net/sound/retha3.rm, at 10-minute point to the end)
its not directed at you,am just quoting this hadith, ! but the one who wrote this hadith in their books will remain there forever, one who quotes becomes a criminal but the narrator of the book isnt !!

No you can’t go to Umrah or Hajj by yourself. Saudi Arabia has a law now stating that an woman under 45 is not allowed to go to Hajj or Umrah by herself. Also there is the issue of mahram and traveling for women.
Bismillah irrahman i erraheem.
Bukhari and Muslim reported from Ibn Abbas(Radia Allahu Anhu) that the Messenger of Allah(Salla Allahu Alahi Wa Salaam) said: "A woman should not travel save and except with a mahram."[Muslim] This is a general instruction for all types of travel including that for Hajj. A woman traveling without a mahram encourages corrupt people to prey on her because of her weakness; at the very least, her honor will be harmed. This prohibition applies also to a woman traveling by plane, even if-as is often claimed-one mahram sees her off at one end and another mahram meets her at the other. Who is going to sit next to her during the journey? What is technical problems should divert the plane to another airport, or the flight is delayed. What if…? There are too many stories of things that went wrong. For a person to be considered a mahram, he must meet four conditions: he should be a Muslim, over the age of puberty, of sound mind, and male as per the hadith narrated by Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri(Radia Allahu Anhu) that the Messenger of Allah(Salla Allahu Alahi Wa Salaam) said: "No woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day should travel a distance of three days journey or more unless her father, son, husband, brother or other mahram is with her." [Muslim] Yet in another Hadith the Messenger of Allah(Salla Allahu Alahi Wa Salaam) said:"It is not permitted for the woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel one day’s distance without the presence of a mahram." [Ibid]

Does Qur’an require this for hajj or umrah? If Qur’an does not state it is requied, then it is not required. If Qur’an states it is required, then it is required.
Unless there are other verses in Qur’an I have not come across yet that state otherwise, Qur’an states for men to protect women, but it does not specify they must be accompanied everywhere they go nor does it forbide logical assumpton that women have some protection from other responsible non-mehram males in public places when plenty of other people are about.
If this is incorrect that other males at hajj or umrah would not protect a woman from a would-be attacker or someone otherwise bothering her, I do apologize, but I would hope that is not incorrect of Muslim males.

Islamic point of view; No. Unless you live nearby less than 80 km, so you don’t need to travel (if you have premission to leave the house)…
Speaking about the Saudi work… They make a statement that a mahram should travel with you, you have to fill a form in the airplane (before you are even in the KSA (Riyadh)), with all your personal info. Name, adress, male/female/ date of birth/ place of birth and who is your mahram (if you are a female) what is the number of your visa passport number… Once you are in the airport, most don’t ask to prove that the name you have given is your real mahram. (In case of a marriage (i.e. contract for example)). Some women travel in groups which seems to be allowed (on one person)_…

For those who are attempting to answer, please at least give some evidence for your position, eg, Qur’aan or hadeeth or even a fatwa from a scholar… are we all aware of how great a sin it is to lie against Allaah and invent matters not in this deen and to give opinions without knowledge ??
To asker, I suggest islamqa.com as i would assume this question would have been dealt with as it seems to be an issue that would come up often wallahualam. It will perhaps take you 5 minutes to find a solution to this question with some proof from a scholar.
It is also adviseable and Allaah knows best for people not to ask fiqh questions that can be easily researched elsewhere (ie islamqa.com for a quick online research) in this place where it may cause fitnah amongst the brothers/sisters and incite them in wanting to give an opinion on a matter that has to do with Allaah and his deen.
Allaah knows best wassalaamu alaykum.
